Mozart for Munchkins: The Little Bach Project **BOSTON, MA!**
Time & Location
About The Event
The Bach Project is an initiative to show classical music in a new light-- how Bach's music is another type of folk music.
Zach Mayer and McKinley James have been composing and rehearsing a duet version of the Bach Cello Suites, with Mayer improvising soprano sax over James playing the original cello line. The saxophone sound weaves in and around the steady cello, shaking up the familiar music, so that listeners can hear the harmonies and the intricacies of Bach’s brilliance in an entirely new way. Mayer and James then composed two new suites of music, each written in the folk styles of their own musical upbringing. Mayer grew up playing Klezmer music, and composed a suite based off of this Eastern European Jewish dance party music, and James has written a suite based on New England traditional music. -------------
MfM creates an interactive and engaging atmosphere in which families can experience and enjoy music! Children of all ages are welcome to roll, crawl, squeal, and dance to their hearts’ content, while parents, grandparents, and caregivers can sit back and unwind. While the setting is informal, the programming remains first rate; from Bach to Bernstein, Beethoven to Barber, Mozart for Munchkins features outstanding works performed by exceptional musicians—an unforgettable experience for the whole family!
